General Information in English:How to get to Salamanca:Salamanca is located in west Spain. The quickest way to get here is take a plane to Madrid. From there, you can take either a train or a bus. Either way, the trip will take around two hours and a half. More information can be found on the Digital Guide. These are the alternatives: Train Madrid-Salamanca:Take a taxi (you can also take the Subway) from Barajas airport to Estación de Chamartín (Chamartín Railway Station) Careful: there are several railway stations in Madrid; make sure to tell the taxi driver it is Chamartín. The train schedule is pretty stable. There are daily trains Madrid-Salamanca leaving at 08:45, 11:00, 13:45, 15:45, 19:45 and 21:30. The trip lasts two hours and a half. For the way back, there are daily trains leaving from Salamanca at 06:00, 07:45, 12:45, 15:50, 18:15, and 19:53. The round trip ha a discount, and costs around 25 Euros. Some useful links: We recommend you to make a phone reservation in advance: Call [++34] 902 24 02 02 (they have english-speaking operators). RENFE admits reservations starting 15 days before the trip, and you must pick the ticket up at least two hours before the trip. However: you can pick the ticket up at Barajas Airport. Ask for RENFE's office in the International Flights Terminal. Bus Madrid-Salamanca:Take a taxi (you can also take the Subway) from Barajas airport to the Estación de AutoRes (AutoRes Bus Station) located at Conde de Casal (this is also the name of the relevant subway stop). Careful: there are many bus stations in Madrid; make sure to tell the taxi driver it is AutoRes (this is the name of the bus company - the "R" is pronounced hard). There are buses leaving at each round hour, from 07:00 to 22:00 (and to 23:00 on Sundays), and the same for the way back. Make sure you buy a ticket for the "Express" (non-stop) service. The round-trip has a discount and costs 25 Euros. Moreover, the bus will drop you at 50 meters from the Economics Faculty. You can also try per email: informacion@auto-res.es. AutoRes admits reservations well in advance, and you should pick the ticket up at least half an hour before the trip. If you make it for a previous bus, they usually allow you to change the ticket on the spot. |
