The Young Researchers in Palaeontology celebrates this year, 2006, its fourth annual meeting, which will be held from 25th to 28th May 2006.

This time, the assembly is to be taking place in Salamanca and the organization committee is made up of some of the Palaeontology students from the Geology Department at the University of Salamanca. The main objective of this meeting is the sharing and discussion of scientific studies on Palaeontology

Presentations can be given orally or in poster-form, having been previously accepted by the event’s scientific committee. The official languages of the meeting will be Spanish and English. Presentations and abstracts in any other language will not be accepted.


The abstract publication norms and a template can be found in the meeting website (see English version). Abstracts should be sent by email , indicating in subject: EJIP ABSTRACT.
The organizers expect an eventual full publication of the works presented.


The “Conjunto Paleontológico de Teruel”  Foundation and the Spanish Society o Palaeontology will give a prize to the best work presented: a free inscription in the next Meeting of the Spanish Society of Palaeontology and a grant of € 200.

ITINERARY FOR FIELDTRIP OF IV EJIP
SALAMANCA-SALAS DELOS INFANTES (BURGOS)

SATURDAY 27

8:00 – Departure from Salamanca.
11:30 – STOP 1: Castrillo del Val (Burgos). Objetive: Important  accumulation levels of lacustrine invertebrates, with a important group of gasteropods.  Duration: 45’ aprox.
13:00 – STOP 2: Mambrillas de Lara (Burgos). Objetive:  Observation of the marine Jurasic/ continental Jurasic discontinuity.  Dinosaur footprints outcrop in La Pedraja (oldest sauropods outcrop in Burgos province).  Duration:  45’
14:00-14:30 –  Arrival to Salas de los Infantes and lunch at Hostal Ben Lloch.
16:30 – STOP 3:   Fossil tree molds.  Objetive:  Fossil tree associated to river paleocanals. Duration:  30’
17:30 – STOP 4: Hacinas (Burgos). Objetive:  Visit to the silicificated trees of the zone.  Landscape and explanation of the zone geology.  Duration: 45’
18: 40 – STOP 5: Tenadas de Costalomo (Burgos). Objetive:  Visit and discussion about he origin of the outcrop with awesome dinosaur footprints.  Duration: 50’
19:30 –  Visit to the Museum of Dinosaurs of Salas de los Infantes (2 groups)
21:30 – Arrival to the hostel and dinner in Barbadilla de Herreros (15 Km. from Salas de los Infantes).

SUNDAY 28

9:00 – Departure from Barbadilla de Herreros.
9:30 – STOP 6: Landscape and Cantera de Cavila (Burgos). Objetive:  Geologic visit from paleozoic of Demanda Mountains to mesozoic of the Cameros Basin.  Visit to the Cantera de Cavila, where there are accumulations of invertebrates, with high diversity and abundance of ammonites.  Duration: 120’
11:30-12:00 – Departure from Cantera de Cavila.
14:30-15:00 – Arrival to Salamanca.

This itinerary may suffer last hour modifications.  Times are aproximative.  Anyway, on Sunday, the arrival to Salamanca is believed to be before 19.00

. For those who wish to have accommodation arranged for them, a new hostel will be available. Should the hostel have no sufficient vacancies for all attendants, rooms will be given by strict order of inscription. The first 40 pre-registered in the meeting will get free accommodation
