Salamanca, November 24-27 1998The aim of the conference is to contribute, as far as possible, to the study of this dialogue with an integral interpretation of the work. The conference will be organised in three sections:
in which well known specialists in the subject from different European and American Universities will deal with questions concerning the significance of the Laws in the history of western thought.

The conference will have plenary sessions (45 minutes reading time) and free papers of 20 minutes reading time. Up to date the following scholars have already agreed to participate: T.J. Saunders (New Castle-Upon-Tyne), Luc Brisson (Paris), Thomas Robinson (Toronto), Carlos García Gual (Madrid), Tomás Calvo (Madrid), John Cleary (Boston College-Maynooth College), C. Bobonich (Stanford), K. Schöpsdau (Saarbrücken), Jean François Pradeau (Toulouse), M. I. Santa Cruz (Buenos Aires), John Dillon (Trinity College, Dublin), Livio Rossetti (Perugia), A. Laks (Lille) and S. Dusanic (Belgrad).
Participants are kindly requested to submit an abstract of their papers
to the conference organising committee by 30 June 1998. The decision will
be taken as soon as possible after that date. Final papers are expected
to reach Salamanca before September 15 1998. Papers may be written in the
official languages of the IPS and in Modern Greek.
A selection of the papers read,
edited by Prof. Francisco L. Lisi, will be published by Academia Verlag,
with the following title: Plato's Laws and their historical significance;
Selected papers of the I International Congress on Ancient thought,
Salamanca, 24-27 November 1998.
