This page is a "second edition" of the one I built in 1995-1996. At that time I was an exchange undergraduate student of psychology at the University of Sunderland (UK). I took a module on Information Handling where I was taught HTML. To pass the module, students had to create and post a webpage on a topic of their choice. I was very interested in nonverbal behavior, so I made a page of links on this topic.

After I left the University of Sunderland I lost control upon my webpage: my password did not work anymore. However, the page was still over there. I got my first degree, took my Ph.D. courses and started doing research in the Department of Social Psychology and Anthropology at the University of Salamanca (Spain).

The year 2000 I visited my own nonverbal page and found many links were broken. In addition, after a couple of searches I realized nonverbal material on line had increased notoriously since 1996. And, amazingly, I found links to my page in several nonverbal sites. All these factors made me think seriously about updating it.

The new version of the site was posted on 27 August 2000, and it has been growing since then: more and more links have been added. These are grouped in the sections below:

Essentials. Here are links to high-quality pages anyone interested in nonverbal behavior should visit: pages of links, a nonverbal dictionary, etc.

Researchers. Over 130 links to nonverbal researchers´ homepages.

Books. Over 70 links to publishers´ sites where nonverbal behavior books are announced. Most sites include detailed book descriptions.

Papers. More than 300 links to online articles dealing with nonverbal behavior. Most of them are scientific research reports, but there are also serious review papers, as well as excelent articles for the lay reader.

Abstracts. Some authors cannot post their entire papers on line, but they can often post the abstracts. In this page, links to over 290 pages which include abstracts are provided.

Publication Lists. Interested in knowing which are the publications of a specific author? This page includes links to several authors´ publication lists.

Journals. In which scientific journals can you read papers dealing with nonverbal behavior? In this page there are various useful links in this regard.

Videotapes. Links to pages where videotapes and audiotapes dealing with nonverbal communication are described and sold.

Research Centers. Links to several universities´ nonverbal research labs and institutes.

Online Experiments. Would you like to participate in a nonverbal behavior scientific experiment? If so, visit this page, where links to sites with online experiments are provided.

Notation Systems. Links to two sites on kinesic notation systems.

Miscellany. A little bit of everything: links to sites ranging from basic facts about nonverbal communication to scientific conferences; from unscientific (mis)information to outstanding sites.

Related-Discipline Links. Links to several psychology or communication sites which can be appealing for those interested in nonverbal behavior.

Nonverbal Forum You all can use this board to discuss about nonverbal behavior. Feel free to post questions, to give answers, to comment upon any nonverbal topic, to announce courses and/or conferences, etc.

Forthcoming Links. These are further links to nonverbal behavior sites. They work properly, but I had no time to put them in the right place. If you don´t want to wait until they are formally added to the site, just click here.

Awards. This site has received a few web awards and recognitions. Here is a list of them.

I hope you find this site to be useful. I´m making an efford to keep this site as updated and exhaustive as possible. However, information in the net increases very quickly. I would like this page to continue growing and improving. But this is only possible with your collaboration. If you know of nonverbal pages not linked from here, if you are a nonverbal researcher who has a home page or an online abstract or article not linked from here, if you are a publisher who has released a nonverbal book and there is a webpage descibing it... please, click on the Submit URL link so that I can visit the site and, if relevant for nonverbal researchers or people in general interested in the topic, I will indeed include a link. Also, any comment regarding this site will be welcome.

Best,

             Jaume Masip
