Jesús Benito Sánchez

Jesús Benito Sánchez teaches American literature and culture at the Universidad de Valladolid. His research centers on intercultural approaches to so-called U.S. Ethnic Literatures. The intercultural, comparative approach is visible in the publications he has coauthored and/or co-edited with Prof. Ana Mª Manzanas, such as Cities, Borders and Spaces in Intercultural American Literature and Film (New York: Routledge, 2011), “Borderlands: Ethnicity, Multiculturalism, and Hybridity,” (Companion to American Literature and Culture. Paul Lauter, ed. New York and Oxford: Blackwell, 2010), Uncertain Mirrors: Magical Realism in U.S. Ethnic Literatures (Amsterdam and New York: Rodopi, 2009), The Dynamics of the Threshold: Essays on Liminal Negotiations (Madrid: Gateway Press 2006), Intercultural Mediations (Münster: Lit Verlag, 2003), Literature and Ethnicity in the Cultural Borderlands (Amsterdam and New York: Rodopi, 2002), and Narratives of Resistance (Cuenca: UCLM, 1999), among others. With Prof. Ana Mª Manzanas, he is general editor of the Rodopi Series “Critical Approaches to Ethnic American Literature.” He has also directed several research projects on Border Theory and identity. He serves on the editorial board of journals such as Atlantis, Revista de Estudios Norteamericanos, E.S.: English Studies and Miscelánea.
